About the author
Ellis Keeling
Ellis Keeling is a pen name. The author writes literary speculative fiction about the systems we inherit and the costs we cannot see.
Latency + Queue is the first published work under this name. A second novel, set in the same universe and following a different protagonist into the same long question, is in progress.
The pen name is borrowed from Charles David Keeling, who measured atmospheric carbon dioxide from a mountain in Hawai‘i for forty-seven years and produced the curve that bears his name. The choice is not incidental. The books are about debts that compound while no one is watching.
